Description
From the creator of Casting Lear, Andrea Jiménez, arrives a new and provocative version of one of the most represented classical myths. A challenging proposal, a collective conversation full of questions. With the collaboration of Victoria Szpunberg.
Contra Antígona seeks to turn the text of Sophocles into a place of collective encounter and citizen in direct. During the show, fourteen people from the audience will be invited each day to join a Greek choir and witness the tragedy firsthand.
The choir is a figure that, sometimes by budget, sometimes by disinterest, has lost the prominence it did have at its origin, usually in favor of eyes that focus on idealizing or delegitimizing the figure of Antigone. But what if the choir were the real protagonist of the tragedy and not the famous heroine?
Contra Antígona is not an allegation against the character, but an invitation to question heroic stories in favor of collective intelligence, perhaps capable of sustaining more complex and fertile deliberative spaces.
